Gaston
Nancy Media Library
multiplié develops made-to-measure solutions, and Gaston is one of them. Commissioned by the Médiathèque de Nancy, it re-uses vintage telephones (from the 70s and 80s) to broadcast and record sound content. Readers looking for recommendations can simply pick up the phone and listen to one of our reading ideas. These audio chronicles are recorded using the telephone itself, by dialing 0, by users, library staff or partners (e.g. book clubs). From a technical point of view, the idea is to replace the electronics of the time with “modern” components and cards, enabling random audio content to be broadcast and chronicles to be recorded (shared on all phones, of course). Audio content and a proposal moderation interface are available, and operation is autonomous without the need for an Internet connection.
